Where can you find 500 happy GM owners? At the Silver Springs Theme Park in Ocala, Florida. They were there for the 1st Annual All GM Car Show, held Saturday, October 14th, 2006. The title sponsor was National Parts Depot, who knows how to put on a great car show. NPD has been doing a Ford and Mustang show for years, and applied that winning formula for the All GM Show. As a result Buick, Cadillac, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Chevrolet and GM cars and trucks all got together for a day of cars, fun and good times. Throw in the natural beauty and entertainment of the Silver Springs Theme Park itself, and it added up to quite an outing for everyone involved.
The afternoons entertainment was provided by none other than The Grassroots, and if you shut your eyes you may have even thought you were back in the 60s. This teamed up nicely with the car show, being dominated by cars and trucks of the 50s, 60s and early 70s. However, you could also have seen everything from a 1914 Buick Cycle car that was owned by a man whose grandfather helped build it, clear up to a 2006 Corvette on the premises. Thats 92 years of GM history at one location!
Awards went to the 23 class winners, plus Best Buick, Best Cadillac, Best Chevrolet, Best Oldsmobile and Best Pontiac. The overall Best Of Show went to Fred and Rose Golsner for their stunning 1952 Chevrolet, which has had tons on modifications performed by Fred himself, and appeared on the cover of Issue 143 of Mike Kellys Cruise News.
Keep an eye on our Coming Attractions section for the announcement of next years show. When word gets out Im sure the 2007 show will be bigger and better. Way to go National Parts Depot! CN
