Apopka Assembly of God 4th Annual Classic Car Show • March 7, 2009

The 4th Annual Classic Car & Bike Show was held on March 7th, 2009 by the Apopka Assembly Of God, located at 951 N. Park Avenue in Apopka, Florida. This event gets better every year, and as good as last year’s show was this year’s was even better. They set another attendance record by hosting over 137 cars, trucks and motorcycles, and the bright, sunny Florida day and a parking lot of gorgeous classic and custom cars and bikes made it hard to imagine a better day. The entire event is done as a fund raiser for the Youth and Children’s Department of the Apopka Assembly Of God Church. The funds raised go toward Youth & Kid’s Summer Camps, Youth concert events, Vacation Bible School, and other events designed to reach out to all teens and children in the Apopka community.

The Car & Bike Show was designed for the entire family, and while there were beautiful classic and custom cars, trucks, motorcycles, and even a monster truck, there were also activities for the children, including inflated slides and a bounce house for the littler ones. This year a DJ was added to keep everyone entertained with continuous music, and he also did announcements for upcoming local events, sponsor advertising, music trivia questions, and door prize ticket announcements. As always there were burgers, hot dogs, and even BBQ available for purchase at a low cost.

The registered car and bike participants received a goody bag with items and information from sponsors, tickets for door prize items, and also a chance to win one of twelve $100 cash prizes! There was even a beautiful gift basket given to the “Ladies Choice” winner. This show makes sure that participants are really taken care of in the prize category, and trophies were given for Outstanding cars and plaques for Class Winners, as well as Best Paint, Best Interior, and Best Engine. Best Of Show and People’s Choice winners received a beautiful wood clock plaque.

Overall it was a great day, and a great event. Many of the participants had positive comments about enjoying the show, and promised to be back next year. If you have a classic or custom car, truck or bike and plan to be in the Apopka area on March 6, 2010, mark your calendar now to attend. CN
