The Kids’ Pick was non other than “Herbie, the Love Bug”. Herbie is a 1963 VW Beetle with a 1200cc 4-cylinder engine, a 4-speed manual transmission, and a cloth factory sunroof. Herbie is dressed to race, which means no hub caps, and wears all of the #53 graphics and stripes, and the correct “OFP 857” California black and gold license plates. Herbie spent most of the day visiting with the kids, and was glad to go home to Land O’ Lakes, Florida at the end of the day with his owner, David Evans.
