30th Annual Corvette Winter Regional • January 9-13, 2008

Every year fans of the Corvette converge for the Winter Regional Meet, held at Old Town in Kissimmee, Florida. January 9-13, 2008 marked the 30th Anniversary of the southeast’s largest Corvette show and swap meet, and it was once again a treat to see so many prime examples of America’s Sportscar gathered in one place.

The show actually consists of two distinct portions, the first of which took place on Thursday through Saturday, and was hosted by the Florida Chapter of the NCRS (National Corvette Restorers Society). This portion of the show caters to stock Vettes, with a Flight Judged show, including the Duntov Award of Excellence, MeLlellan Award of Excellence, and a Sportsman Class open to new NCRS cars. Other activities include seminars, some of which are conducted by Corvette engineers, celebrity guests, a swap meet with new and used parts, plus collectables for sale in various booths.

The Classic Corvettes of Orlando host Sunday’s show, which they call the “Wonderful World Of Corvettes”, and is open to all years and types of Vettes....including not only stock, but also modified, custom and race versions. On Sunday the awards include a Top 50, plus the Brent Ferguson Memorial Award and various sponsor chosen awards.

While this year’s pictures came during the NCRS show, over the years we have attended both portions and either one is definitely a treat. If you like Corvettes, this is certainly an annual event you should mark on your calendar. Watch for a listing in our Coming Attractions section as next year’s event draws closer, or you can visit the two host club’s web sites at www.ncrsfl.org and www.classiccorvettes.org. CN
