GoVairs club member Charles Millers has been the only owner of this light tan 1964 Corvair Monza convertible, which was the first new Chevy sold in Plant City. He purchased it from Bill Sharptons in September 1963 and drove it daily for 11 year, putting 140,000 miles on it. In a moment of weakness, and for a dollar amount almost equal to what he paid for it new he sold it to Waldo Davis in 1982, regretted it as he watched it leaving his driveway, not dreaming he would ever see it again, much less own it again. Mr. Davis drove the car to Tampa with the intention of restoring it, but it just wound up in storage. Charles tried to buy it back from him, but he wouldnt sell it. Mr. David passed away in 2002 and his wife sold the car back to Charles. As it had been stored for 20 years, the title had never been change out of Charles name. Charles took 1-1/2 years to restore the car, and did all the work himself except for the bottom of the bucket seats. The muffler is the original one that came with the car off the showroom floor. Like a lost member of a family finding their way back home, Charles 1964 Corvair has a place to stay forever. What a neat story!
