The Gamble Plantation’s 12th Annual Car & Truck Show was held on November 8th, 2008, and was held on the lawn of the Historic State Park known as the Gamble Plantation in Ellenton, Florida. What a setting, what a car show!
This year’s event was attended by about 200 cars and trucks, and the major sponsor of this year’s show was Bill Mullis’ Corvettes and Classics. This show is a charity event that benefits the non-profit organization Manasota Solve, Inc., who assist woman and their families during crisis pregnancies.
The first 75 vehicles in the gate had their car or truck photographed in front of the old mansion, and received their picture by the end of the show. A wide array of vehicles attended this show, and the cars and trucks were broken down into 6 different classes: Antiques, Classics, Street Rods, Muscle Cars, Trucks and Special Interest Late Models. Awards were given to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place vehicles in each class. In addition there were 30 Award of Excellence trophies, and several specialty awards presented by the charity and the staff at the Gamble Plantation.
Food was available by the world famous guys at Holy Smoke BBQ. As they say, it is the Best BBQ this side of Heaven. The music and entertainment was provided by Lance’s Cruzin to the Hop. The other great thing to do at this car show is take some time and go on a tour of the Gamble Mansion. This is truly a great place to have a car show.
The Gamble Plantation’s Annual Car & Truck Show happens every year on the second Saturday of November, so for 2009 the date will be November 14th. It’s an event that you don’t want to miss, so check the Coming Attractions section of Mike Kelly’s Cruise News later in the year for info on the 2009 Show when it becomes available.CN
