Hot Rod Sunday at Moroso Motorsports Park • 2006
photos and info by Vivian Senior

Moroso Motorsports Park is known for hosting a wide variety of events at their expansive multi-purpose complex in Palm Beach Gardens, and on August 6th, 2006 it was time to have some fun at “Hot Rod Sunday”. This event happens twice a year, and always pulls in lots of great show cars. For this installment there were around 200 registered vehicles, and the weather held up nicely all day long allowing for plenty of fun, and memory making moments.

The car show area was not the only place to be for this one though, as it also packed lots of action onto the quarter mile in a variety of classes. These included the Outlaw Quick 16, Quick 32 for Door Cars, Nostalgia Shootout, and a Gamblers’ Race for Super Pro, Pro, Pro Bike and Street Bike. Plus there were test and tune sessions available for those just wanting to dial in their go-fast package. Everyone in attendance also perused the manufacturers marketplace for the latest parts, and the swap meet area looking for smokin’ deals.

Awards for the car show were handed out at around 3:00pm, with all the lucky winners receiving polo shirts and plaques. A generous $500 cash prize also went to the Best Of Show winner, Dennis Delphus, for his super cool 1941 Willys Roadster nicknamed the “Swoopster” (featured on the cover of our Issue 136).

Keep an eye on our Coming Attractions section for all the great upcoming events, including those hosted by Moroso Motorsports Park. You can visit the Moroso web site at www.MorosoMotorsportsPark.com for upcoming special events and various info. CN
