12th Annual Car & Truck Show at Karl Flammer Ford

story, photos and captions by John Michael

The 12th Annual Car & Truck Show was held at Karl Flammer Ford off US 19 in Tarpon Springs. The weather was much better than the last few years’ events, with sunny skies and gradually warming temperatures replacing the blustery cold, rainy shows of the past. Regardless of good or bad weather, the turnout was, as always, phenomenal. Over 265 cars were present, and dash plaques went out to the first 150 vehicles registered. Also on display were several of the cars from the collection of Al Wiseman. Quality door prizes were given away, and a 50/50 raffle say $320 going to the winner, who donated it back to help the many charities this show donates to each year. Plenty of food was available throughout the day, and the chili deserves a Best Of Show award. It is tasty!

This is a judged show, with the judging duties being performed by the host club, the Sunshine State Vintage T-Birds. The awards were divided into two main categories, with Top 80 awards going to 1979 and older vehicles, and Top 20 awards going to 1980 and newer entries. Specialty awards were also distributed in both categories, as well as Best T-Bucket plus Top 6 T-Buckets, Best Trailered plus Top 5 Trailered. Other awards include 3 Special Interest, the Ed Hildebrand Memorial Award, Flammer’s Choice, and of course the Best Of Show trophy.

As mentioned earlier, this show is an annual event, and we look forward to the 13th one next year. As the time nears be sure to check with Karl Flammer Ford, call Nora at 727-823-6656, or check the Coming Attractions section of Mike Kelly’s Cruise News. CN
