On Saturday, July 18th, 2009, the folks at Muscle Cars And Handle Bars and Graffiti Junktion hosted their first Lucky 21 Blackjack Brunch & Cruise-In, and we were happy to have attended. It was free to enter, but there were only 21 reserved spots, with the cars needing to be 1975 or older.

The day started off at 9:00am with coffee and bagels at Muscle Cars And Handle Bars, located at 333 E. Landstreet Road (at the corner of Orange Avenue). After the meet and greet, all the cars hit the road at around 10:30am, cruising up Orange Avenue (where we snapped some pictures of the poetry in motion), and ultimately to Graffiti Junktion at 900 East Washington Street in the Thornton Park area of downtown Orlando. Parking in this part of town is at a premium, but they had enough reserved spots to accomodate the Lucky 21. Graffiti Junktion bills itself as an American Burger Bar, and after having eaten there twice now, we can tell you that they do make up some great burgers - which I’d guess are at least 1/3 pounders, plus delicious fresh cut fries. They have quite a few signature burgers, plus soups, salads and other items. They also had drink specials during the event, including Land Shark Lager on tap for only $1.00. Amazing! There were several high def TV’s around the restaurant, which were playing automotive shows, plus some great music was being played on the sound system to keep the atmosphere rockin’.

As a blackjack themed run, the Lucky 21 received one playing card while at Muscle Cars And Handle Bars, and another upon arriving at Graffiti Junktion, with the winning blackjack hand receiving a special prize. Tattood Bill of Graffiti Junktion also chose his favorite car, of which he will do an original painting for the winner to keep, which is a pretty darn cool. For July the winner was Mark Strawder’s 1957 Chevy, which happens to be the cover car for this issue.

The Lucky 21 Blackjack Brunch & Cruise-In will take place on the 3rd Saturday of the month, so if you weren’t able to make it to the inaugural one, you can still make plans to join in on all the fun now.
