Last month we took the initial steps to getting the redo of our 1957 Chevy Sedan Delivery underway, in the first of many installments to come. While the car was still good for cruising down the road, the exterior was in need of a complete redo to get it back to its old glory. The doors, fenders, and many of the bolt-on exterior items were media blasted at Master Blaster of Orlando, and we were quite happy with what was revealed.

This month consisted of just digging in deeper, and continuing to get everything stripped so we could see just what it was we were dealing with under that old brittle lacquer, so we could come up with a game plan to fix what is needed and ensure a good repaint from the metal up. (Remember, we bought the car already completed, so some things were certainly still a bit of a mystery as the paint was removed). With the whole main body media blasted clean now, things actually look a little better than we might have thought. The whole car is pretty sound, the old lacquer had just seen too many days of the pounding Florida sunshine, rain and road miles.

Inside, however, we did find that the floorboards had been patched up with fiberglass, and there wasn’t as much metal left as we’d like. New reproduction floorboards will be ordered, and installed by Master Blaster in the coming months. Still, all in all things are still looking pretty positive, and the car proved to be pretty solid.

Stay tuned for next month’s progress update in the printed magazine and here on our web site. CN
