Don Garlits blasting off the line at Lion’s Drag Strip in Long Beach, California with his first rear engined Top Fueler in 1971. The track was the site of the starting line explosion in March of 1970 that took off part of “Big Daddy’s” right foot, and that caused him to develop this rear engined car.
