With their wild altered wheelbases, the early Chrysler factory backed A/FX'ers / "Funny Cars" are a prime example of why people thought these cars were "funny". The radical wheelbase alterations on cars like the Sox and Martin 1965 Plymouth, pictured here at Fremont Raceway, greatly helped weight transfer & traction back in the days when drag slicks were not manufactured with todays technology. Note the fuel tank in the grille.
