The man who killed the slingshot dragster in Top Fuel, "Big Daddy" Don Garlits. He still races Top Fuel today with his Summit sponsored car, even though he is in his 70's, and Garlits is without a doubt the "Babe Ruth" of drag racing. Garlits blew part of his right foot off with an experimental transmission in a slingshot car in March of 1970 at Lion's Drag Strip in Long Beach, California, and while on the mend he devised the first really successful rear engined Top Fuel car which changed drag racing forever. Here Garlits and his long time sidekick T.C. Lemmons show you how to do a fire burnout at Lakeland, Florida (early 1970's).
