1956 was the only year for Chryslers to have a 354 Hemi (rated at 280hp), and that is what resides in this ‘56 Chrysler New Yorker Newport 2-Door Hardtop, one of 4,115 built. It was also the first year for the push button transmission and Torqueflite automatic, the last year for the power steering pump to be mounted on the generator, and the last year for the oil bath air filter. The scoops near the back window are the fresh air intake for the A/C system, as it was the last year for factory air mounted in the trunk. It sold new in Denver, Colorado, was repainted in ‘03 with the original Desert Rose and Cloud White colors, and now belongs to Jim Mummah from Oviedo, Florida.
