On Sunday, December 7, 2003, the 4th Annual Toys For Tots Car, Truck and Motorcycle Show was held on the waterfront at the Pier of St. Petersburg. Beautiful sunny skies, brisk temperatures and a great on the water location, along with the spirit of the holiday season made for a memorable event, with 122 vehicles taking part. Dash plaques went to the first 75 registered, and special Christmas figurine awards from Dudleys Trophies of Pinellas Park were given out to the Top 50, the 20 Best Of Shows and the 7 Overall Best Of Show.
Show participants all brought an unwrapped new toy, and a special award went out to the cruiser who brought the most toys. A big hand to Sharon Farabee for donating 56 toys. It was nice to see a bunch of toys collected to help make the Christmas season better for needy children, and in the end over $2,500 in unwrapped gifts and $260 in cash were given to the Tampa Bay area Marines to distribute.
Hosted by Premium Productions, the annual Toys For Tots show is one of several shows throughout the year held at the Pier. Located on the waterfront of downtown St. Petersburg, visitors are treated to a great view of the water, neat shops to browse through, and several places to eat. The Pier attracts over two million visitors each year and also is home to the Pier Aquarium.
